Figured Exploration

Figured Exploration is 60" x 120" 1985

This painting hung in our Brooklyn home.
Upon entering the living room, one potential buyer of our house spontaneously sat down in a chair opposite the painting and said "this makes my brain feel good."

I'll never forget that statement and now it's recorded in print!

Love those English "Summer Boots". I still have them as I've always wanted to re-produce them. They were purchased in 1984 in London. I took my young daughter with me on a trip
throughout a few countries in Europe. In france, I had her hair cut, much to the disbelief of the French. It was like committing a crime. In Barcelona, she stood on a chair to eat her spaghetti;
the pasta as long as the distance from her mouth to the plate while standing.

This painting is for sale. $4000

Flow

Another of the 8 in the 2010 series. I find it interesting
that many of my landscapes feel West & Hot. I think I
was meant to live there, but for some reason the NE has
rooted me. Not sure I could live far from an Ocean.

This Painting is for sale: $500

Landscape

One of the 8 in the first quarter 2010 series. I really liked the
painted pastel feel of the strokes. I know I need to return to
the "easel." I need the continuity of process.

Life Drawing

Life Drawing is one of the 8 in the 2010 first quarter series.
One of my art friends posted on FB that he was going to a life drawing class at USM. I decided to go too. It had been
about 38 years since I sat a class and I loved it! I took some paint and brushes and brown wrapping paper. What was interesting was that my awareness of the volume of the body
had grown tremendously from what I remember as an art student. Drawing what you see and what you know are 2 different things.

This Painting is for sale: $800

Interior Landscape

Interior Landscape was done in 2009. In the Somatic work that I do, skeletal relationship is where we focus. We hone our knowledge and navigational skill of this relational quality through experiencial movement processes that are subject to one's autonomous presence in the moment. It's wonderful to be able to to sense a rib cage shift into a a rib basket. The work
is imbued with metaphor; it's content, movement intelligence; How to Become a Smarter Mover.

What's Behind Us

This painting was done in 1983; Oil on paper
30" x 40". I couldn't find a title for this work in my archives, but I am also a Feldenkrais® practitioner
and Bones for Life® trainer with 19 years experience in somatic education where movement is the vehicle to expand self awareness. This work was done 8 years before I entered this training.
It serves to initiate a few more viewings of Interior Landscapes and the Nude.

The Swan Period

I read the Swan Thieves; nothing I'd recommend. In fact my reading was dismal this winter
and for some reason I insisted on finishing these books. Looks like this one inhabits Nest 10.

A Message of Presence

One of the inhabitants of birdhouse. Enjoy it or not, I feel I have to be present for every facet
of life that comes to me these past and continuing months. Good thing I have abundance in
family, friends and inner dialogue. I love Charlie Rose and his guests. it's a great way to end the day.

Nest

The size 78" x 76". This was done in
1985. I was a highly visible painter in Maine in the 80's. It was a hopping, social time with 5-6 gallery openings, monthly. A wonderful community thrived and you could count on seeing fellow artists supporting each other, attending openings.

I moved to NYC in 1987 and lived there until 1997, when we re-located back to Maine. Lots happened in that 10 year period, including the continuation of my work on fabric and a 4 year training in the Feldenkrais® Method of somatic education.

A few years back, I began to paint again. I'm using acrylics because I'm working in my living room, in front of the fireplace. What's interesting is that the dialogue I have with myself as a painter continues as if the thread never experienced days, weeks, months. Years of severance. So above is Nest & I will upload some current nests for you to see.

Cover

This painting is 80" x 80" and was done in 1984 in Portland, Maine. It hangs in my living room. Today I am acknowledging the persistent voice of Nature on our planet Earth. Earthquakes, Volcanos, Flooding,Spills, Trade Winds, Mud, Fast Blooming over & done with Tulips... At times, we need Cover.

The "Thought for Today" in the local paper is by Eric Sevareld who died in 1992. "the biggest big business in America is not steel, automobiles or television, It is the manufacture, refinement and distribution of anxiety."

I'm not sure about you, but I notice that I've bought in big time to America's new business.
